Peta in the article, “Zoos: Pitiful Prisons” 2015 illustrates that zoos and any other form of animal captivity are clearly not for our education, as it is supposed to be, but simply for human entertainment. Peta develops their thesis by giving examples of times that animals have been harmed while in captivity and by explaining that we do not know the actual purpose of zoos. The authors purpose is to explain in order to get the attention of the reader and persuade them that zoos and other forms of animal captivity for human entertainment and torturous for the animals. The author writes in a concerned and almost angry tone for the audience to feel what the author feels.

  ​ Lythe Copeland in the article, “5 Disgusting And Depressing Stories Of Captive Animal Abuse” 

May 4, 2011, article argues about zoo animals that are abused by zoologist and not fed, cleaned or 

attended to. Copeland supports animal abuse and not well treated animals. In addition to that, the 

animals that are getting abused and are dying are used as meat for zoo restaurants. Zookeepers are

also getting under payments for letting visitors play with Cubs,Bears,lions,monkeys,and birds.

Zookeepers beat up animals like lions to make them jump through hoops of Fire. The author 

purpose is to inform in order to point out what happens in the zoo behind close doors. The author 

writes in a formal way to describe animal usage in the zoos for a audience of visitors and the 

community

    James Owen in the article,breeding animals in captivity...that illustrates how animals 

are being breeding in captivity.James Owen develops his idea on breeding animals 

captive.The author purpose is to argue in order for the zookeepers to not breed them 

while they are being held captive.The author writes in a understanding way that 

animals should be left alone In the world.

Louis Sahagun  in the atricle  Calfornia Local ( April 26 2014) it illustrates that Keeping wild animals in 

captivity is inherently cruel, as it deprives them of the ability to freely engage in instinctual behaviors in their natural 

environment. Louis Sahagun supports thesis by saying that Every year, captive exotic animals are involved in incidents in 

which humans are injured or even killed.

Although many industries using captive exotic animals claim to be aiding in conservation, very few captive breeding 

programs actually address the real threats facing imperiled animals in the wild, such as habitat destruction. The authors 

purpose is to inform in order to stop abanding zoos and abusing animals.the author writes in a formal tone for people  that 

go to the zoo.
